On August 18, 2023 at 7:30pm at the Detroit Observatory, the Lowbrows held their monthly general membership meeting. The speaker was Dr. Tamas Gombosi, Konstantin I. Gringauz Distinguished University Professor of Space Science and Rollin M. Gerstacker Professor of Engineering at the University of Michigan. His talk was titled: “Space Weather: Is the Sun or Humanity More Dangerous?“. After the presentation, Austin Edmister of the Detroit Observatory showed off their latest acquisition, a 1921 Zeiss 80mm refractor telescope.
